Requiem For a Cyborg is the twenty-fifth level in Marathon 2: Durandal. It is the third level in Simulacrums, the eighth chapter of the game. It is set aboard the Pfhor spaceship Hfarl. Your mission in this level is to disengage two large docking clamps and activate the ship's engines.

The ship's crew consists of Pfhor Fighters, Troopers, and S'pht Compilers.

There is a pattern buffer on the ship's bridge at the north end of the map. Another patter buffer can be found in an upper room on the west side of the level. At the bottom of the elevator shaft leading to the bridge deck, a 1x shield recharger can be found. Another 1x shield recharger can be found next to an oxygen replenisher in the southeast part of the level.

Walkthrough[]

At the start of the level, head through the door to your north to find the bridge of the ship; it's filled with enemies, and there's a pattern buffer as well.

Now drop down the elevator shaft in the starting room. At the bottom, you'll find a 1x shield recharger. Just beyond it you'll find the main corridor through the ship, running southwards. The first door on your right leads to a room with an elevator. At the top of the elevator, there's a pattern buffer as well as one of the docking clamp switches you need to hit.

Back in the main corridor, take the second door on the east side to find a room with raised triangular platforms. Go through the east door here to get to another elevator. That elevator will take you up to a 1x shield recharger, an oxygen replenisher, and the second docking clamp switch.

Go back to the main corridor and go through the door at the southern end. Drop down the ledge and go through the south door to get into the ship's engine room, which has many tanks filled with plasma. Hit three switches in this room to raise the plasma level in the tanks.

Now go back north through the door. Follow the corridor in the northeast corner of the room back to an elevator. At the top of the elevator, make your way south through the tunnels and you'll find yourself back in the room with the triangular platforms. Take the west door in this room to get back to the main ship corridor. Go back to the bridge at the north end of the ship, using the 1x shield recharger at the north elevator if you have to. On the bridge, save your game at the pattern buffer, then read the terminal to teleport to Fatum Iustum Stultorum.

Secrets[]

In the narrow tunnel that runs just east of and parallel to the ship's main corridor, there is a dead end with a secret wall panel at the end that opens to reveal a breakable circuit. When you break it, the platform you are standing on drops down to reveal a room with three Alien Weapons. The circuits in this secret room can be broken to toggle the movement of the platform on which you entered.

Interact with the wall in between the circuit panels to reveal a hidden terminal. If you read this terminal, you will be teleported back to the starting room of the level.

PERSONALITY CONSTRUCTS SEEKING CYBORGS[]

This Easter egg terminal contains personal advertisements from the four main AIs in the series (Durandal, Tycho, Leela, and Thoth), who are each looking to date a cyborg.

This Pfhor terminal contains a shipwide alert, telling the crew that the ship has been boarded and asking them to execute "boarding procedure eight".

When the mission objectives have been completed, this terminal contains a final message from Thoth. He says the Eleventh Clan will return, telling you to go to them.
